Planting our Future

Our Planting Dream

At Diverse Little Colours, we are very passionate about looking after our environment, and we understand how crucial it is to take action as soon as possible. This is why we aim, with the help of our volunteers, to plant as many trees as possible in the local and wider community, as we want to help the UK reach its carbon net-zero target by 2050. We also strongly encourage others to plant in their local area so that we can work together to combat the effects of climate change.

How Planting Helps the Environment

Plants absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, as they need this to produce their food in a process called photosynthesis, and during this process they release oxygen into the atmosphere, which is needed by us to breathe. However, due to deforestation, many plants have been cleared out, and many, many trees as well. This has led to a huge increase in the amount of COâ‚‚ in our atmosphere due to the amount that is released from plants during deforestation, and also there are fewer trees and plants to absorb the COâ‚‚ in the atmosphere. This is why planting helps, as the more trees there are, the more COâ‚‚ can be absorbed, and while there is a long way to go, it is always best to start small, as it is the little steps that lead to big changes.

Welcome to our Summer Mindfulness Calendar

Reconnect with Nature This Summer

This summer, take a moment to slow down and rediscover the natural world around you. Spending time in nature can work wonders for both your physical and mental wellbeing.

Our four-week Summer Wellbeing Calendar is filled with a variety of gentle, uplifting activities—ranging from physical to creative to calming. Each one is designed to help you engage more closely with nature, whether you're outside in the fresh air or staying indoors. No special equipment is required, and it doesn’t matter if you’ve got a spacious garden or simply a windowsill to look out from.

You’re free to follow the calendar from the beginning or dip in and try whichever activities appeal to you most. Miss a few days? No problem. The goal is simply to spend more mindful time with nature, in whatever way suits you.

By the end of the four weeks, we hope you’ll feel more connected to the world around you—and enjoy the many benefits that come with it.
